Sweet Melodies and Saipan's Sunsets

Saturdays have been really busy for me. The Women’s Ministry is leading out on weekly hospital visits with patients at CHC after church. We had to write an official letter to the hospital administration to ask permission to be there. Finally we secured a time frame to visit with patients on Saturday afternoons.

A small group of us sang and prayed for several patients this past Sabbath. We visited my coworker’s mom who has been in the hospital for almost a month now. While singing to her suddenly a burst of tears was streaming down her face and she let out a faint cry. It made my heart skip a beat. I can only imagine the burden of pain she has been carrying. Her daughter, Auntie Mary, was there wiping her tears away and holding her hand. I'm happy that we were able to spend some time with her even if it was only for a little while.

The family unit for the Chamorro's is smiliar to the Filipinos. We've got alot of extended family. Everyone seems to be your "aunt" or "uncle". I love how we value family and are there when we really need each other. At least that is what my family is like.

I took a breather . . . and watched the sunset behind the Aquarius Hotel to close out the Sabbath.

The sunsets are my best part of my everyday and are reminders that God wants me to be happy no matter what I decide about . . .

Catch 30

I had a blast celebrating my 30th birthday this past weekend! My weekend couldn't have started off any better than teeing off a charity golf tournament with my friend, Jessica. I've missed playing golf. I'm bringing my golf clubs back with me to Saipan since I will be staying another year. Plus my short game needs some serious work.
30 Flirty and Fabulous as my friends would say! I am at a very happy place in my life right now. In fact, I feel like I am on cloud nine. I feel blessed because I have so many wonderful people in my life here at home and in Saipan. So many people have made my day special with phone calls, emails, and cards.

My cousin, Janice, brought me my favorite cup cakes from a bakery called Sprinkles. in Newport Beach. My sweet friend, Angie, made me breakfast in bed. My best friend since the second grade, Rae, came out to La Jolla to have dinner with us even though alot of things are going on with her dad right now. And my cousin, Joy, made me laugh so hard that I cried! It was just perfect night.
I have to admit that I am not much of a partyer. Any normal person would have probably celebrated their birthday at a club or a bar. I'm pretty low key and more of a homebody. All I really wanted to do was get dressed and have dinner at a really nice restaurant with some of my closest friends. We had dinner at a Hawaiian Fusion restaurant called Roy's in La Jolla. Ever heard of it? I loved it and thought the food was amazing.

Remember how I said I'd do things differently in my 20's? Well I change my mind. If I didn't make those mistakes than I probably wouldn't be where I am at today and I wouldn't be who I am. What I learned from my 20's is to lighten up and not take life so seriously. Also I have learned to keep loving extravagantly like God calls us to. Thanks everyone for your bday wishes=)

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm so happy to be home to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday and Mother's day together with my family. At the Pasadena SDA Church they made a short video tribute to all the mothers in the church. They interviewed alot of kids about why they love their mom. There were alot of cute responses like "because she makes me good food, she makes me laugh, and she takes care of me." I love my mom not only for those reasons but that she has always loved and supported me always. Always! Even through the times we didn't always get along. Her love amazes me.

My mom is also an inspiration to me. When dad had his stroke it was hard for all of us. Sometimes when times are tough it is tempting to question God why He allowed things to happen. But mom is a woman of God and her faith has always been so strong. She reminds me not to focus on the reasons why bad things happen but to just keep trusting in God that He has a plan. Her passion for life and dedication to God inspires me to keep God first in my life. First in my life above everything.

Someday I'd like to be a mom. And I hope someday that I will do as great as a job as my mom did with us.

News From Home!

I'm an auntie!=) My sister, Ginger, had her boy baby yesterday! He looks like my dad. Joshua was born at 12:12 pm. He came in at 6 lbs 15 oz and his length was 18.5 inches long! I am so excited to see him and my family when I go home in May. I can't wait to squeeze him and my niece, Katie who just turned two this past Sunday. I'm just so thankful to God that it was a safe delivery and that they are both doing well.
